Scranton Motors is a family owned dealer group that is growing, but still small enough to pay attention to the individual customer experience. Our family has been in the car business for over 60 years. Larry Scranton took a big chance in 1952, when he mortgaged his home to start up a small gas station in Rockville CT after returning from his service in WWII. He took many risks and lived by a mantra that we still remember today.

"Take care of your employees first, customers second, dealership third, and work harder than everyone else!"

Yes you read that right! By taking care of his employees first, Larry ensured that he had employees who wanted what was best for the company and therefore, would go above and beyond for his customers even when no one else was watching.

Working side by side with his father, Tom Scranton learned a lot. When it came time for Larry to retire, he was confident that his older son was ready for the challenge. Over the next few decades, Tom was able to continue to grow the little car lot. He built a very successful commercial division that today serves Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York. Tom's vision and hard work took Scranton Motors from one location with two franchises to as many as 3 locations and as many as 7 franchises.

Today our leader is Meghan Scranton, third generation dealer and granddaughter of Larry. Even though he passed on years ago, we know that Larry would be so proud to know that his own granddaughter has grown up to be the YOUNGEST FEMALE GENERAL MOTORS dealer in the country. Meghan has taken his vision to include not only the employees of Scranton Chevrolet Of Norwich, Inc., but the communities that surround our businesses, including Norwich, New London, and Groton, CT.

With the help of Tom and Nolene Scranton, Meg founded an organization of community involvement and financial support that we lovingly refer to as TEAM SCRANTON. TEAM SCRANTON raises money, volunteers, and makes donations to local charities, foundations, and individuals in need throughout the community.
